Choose your Macsween gluten-free haggis
- Smaller portions: 3 × 200g Macsween Gluten Free Haggis includes three separate packs, totalling 600g. Allow one 200g pack per main course, or divide each into two light 100g starter portions.
- A larger meal: Macsween Gluten Free Haggis 1.36kg provides around five to six main portions at approximately 225–270g each, depending on appetite and sides.
For a family meal or event, use our haggis portion calculator and select the gluten-free option. Count the guests who need that recipe separately, then check the chosen pack size and round up as needed. The general portion guide allows 125g for a starter or 200–225g for a main; the 100g starter above is a lighter serving.
Plan a gluten-free Burns supper
Start with your gluten-free haggis, then check every accompaniment. Neeps and tatties are traditional partners, but prepared mash, stock, sauces and other courses each need their own ingredient and allergen check. Use clean preparation surfaces and separate utensils to avoid cross-contact with gluten-containing foods.
Our Burns Supper Dine-In boxes show the ready-selected supper options, but the listed boxes include traditional haggis and must not be assumed to be gluten-free. For a gluten-free menu or a mixed group, send a Burns supper enquiry before ordering so the full selection can be checked and any alternatives confirmed.
How to cook gluten-free haggis
Follow the heating and storage instructions on the exact pack supplied. A 200g pack and a 1.36kg roll need their own directions; do not scale cooking times from weight alone or use one small pack's microwave time for several packs together. Our guide to cooking gluten-free haggis explains preparation, checking the centre and planning suitable sides.
Gluten-free haggis FAQs
Is haggis gluten-free?
Not all haggis is gluten-free. These Macsween products use gluten-free oats in a recipe specifically labelled gluten-free. Choose the named gluten-free product and read the current label rather than assuming all haggis from the same brand is suitable.
Does gluten-free haggis still contain oats?
Yes. It contains gluten-free oats, so gluten-free does not mean oat-free. Check the ingredients and allergen information if you need to avoid oats, and contact us through our form before ordering if you need clarification.
Is Macsween gluten-free haggis vegetarian or vegan?
No. The gluten-free haggis in this collection contains lamb and beef. Our vegetarian and vegan haggis range offers meat-free recipes, but the options currently listed there are not gluten-free.
Can I order gluten-free haggis for delivery?
Check availability on your chosen product and see our delivery information for services, timing and postcode restrictions. A preferred delivery date is not guaranteed, so discuss timing in advance for an organised supper.
